Their beauty, heartiness, diversity, and tendency to reproduce in the aquarium make these animals a great addition to the reef tank.  In the wild, mushroom coral will often colonize dead coral reef areas that have been physically damaged or polluted by human actions.
You may keep them successfully in shady parts of the reef tank or in a simple, inexpensive, relatively low-light mini reef tank provided by an affordable eclipse aquarium system.  You can keep them along with other inexpensive, beautiful low-light animals, such as stick polyps didiogognians, sponges, Tubastrea coral, and flame scallops. Nutrients & waste from marine aquarium fish help mushroom coral anemones to grow. They come in many diverse colors, patterns, and forms
Including, but not limited to: molted mushrooms, watermelon striped mushrooms, red, orange, green, and blue mushrooms.

General: Mushroom anemones are related to anemones, in fact larger harry type mushrooms resemble small carpet anemones.  These animals are hardy and do well in a healthy reef tank.  Most require less light and circulation than other corals.

Additives: Use additives containing at least iodine.  Other trace element additives may be helpful.

Circulation: Low circulation is best for mushroom anemones.

Lighting: Consider the use of at least 50% or a little more Actinic blue florescent lighting as it does an excellent job of bringing out very nice florescent colors in mushroom corals.  Try one actinic bulb for each 50 / 50 bulb. Several standard wattage fluorescent bulbs is all that is required for most of these corals.  If you use metal halide, place mushrooms near the bottom of the tank in shady areas.

Food: Most hairy-type mushroom corals will eat solid food if placed on them gently.  First, turn off power heads, or the food will be carried away.  Feed small amounts of thawed-out frozen food, such as reef plus, reef stroganoff, silversides, etc. about once a week or less.
Smooth-type mushrooms absorb tiny particles and dissolve nutrients into the slime on their bodies.  Thus having marine aquarium fish in the tank with these creatures will help them to grow.  Add small amounts of Roti-rich Kent Marine Coral Accel, Kent Marine Phyto Plex or juice from the above- mentioned frozen foods.

Placement: Can be placed towards the bottom of the tank if good reef lighting is used. Though some enjoy strong light, others may be harmed by too much of it.  Mushroom corals will not harm each other even if touching.  Do not let them touch any other corals.
